WERCHTER BOUTIQUE ACCESSIBLE TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
In collaboration with Intro, Werchter Boutique puts in a great effort to make the festival accessible to the disabled:
- There is an alternative, accessible and less crowded entrance for people with a disability. One person is allowed to accompany him/her through this entrance.
- We have provided a viewing platform for wheelchair users, people with crutches... with a grandstand view of the performing artists. Because we would like allow as many disabled people as possible, only one friend/carer will be allowed to assist the disabled festival goer on the platform.
- Adapted toilets are situated in locations all over the festival site.
- If you have a (blue) European disabled badge and you think you will get into trouble when you cannot come close to the festival entrance, please get in touch with Intro. Click here to view a map of the ADL parking.
- Throughout the festival, you can always call on ADD staff for assistance, free of charge. This may include: toilet, moving and eating assistance... Do not hesitate to talk to an ADD assistant, whenever you require assistance. You can find them on the festival site at the viewing platforms.
- We will also look for a solution whenever you have problem with your wheelchair or another aid.
Should you wish to make use of the aforementioned facilities? Have you got a handicap and are you facing any problems to which you can’t find a solution? Would you just like some more information? Send an e-mail to boutique@intro-events.be.

SAFETY
No crowd surfing
As was the case in previous years, and as is the case at all the big European festivals, crowd surfing is prohibited. Anyone who is caught crowd surfing will be escorted from the festival. The good sense behind this ban became immediately clear when it was first imposed. People in the front rows were finally able to enjoy the spectacle on the stage without the worry of having to protect their head and limbs. It is better and safer for all, and lessens the risk of injury considerably.
-
Other measures to improve safety/safety lanes
As in previous years the stage elements have been designed and built with the safety and comfort of the visitors in mind. We pride ourselves as having led the way in this area now that the systems we started using have been adopted by the other big European festivals. Safety lanes are made from sturdy, free standing barriers and are designed to allow security and emergency services to get right into the crowd, either to evacuate or attend to a patient without disturbing the rest of the audience. They are also set up to absorb some of the forward and sideward pressure of the crowd.
-
Floor
At the front of the stage there is a tufted rubber floor to prevent muddy or slippery patches appearing after heavy rain.
-
Video screens
These are located at either side of the stage and allow people at the back of the crowd to see what is happening. There is no need to be right at the front of the crowd to enjoy the festival at its best.
